Will Smith Outraged at Comparison of his Family to the Kardashians

With young Jaden Smith allegedly dating Kylie Jenner, and younger sister, Willow Smith, seen hanging out with the gorgeous, brunette teen, the New York Times has compared the Smith family to the Kardashian clan, much to the famous Smith patriarch’s dismay.‘For our family, the entire structure of our life, our home, our business relationships—the entire purpose is for everyone to be able to create in a way that makes them happy,’ he explained. Claiming that “fame is an almost inconsequential by-product of what we’re trying to accomplish,” Will goes on to claim that fame and exploitation of the media are not his intent, but that he has a greater purpose.

Apparently Willow has taken a break from singing based on her own decision to “just be 12,” and would rather go to school with her friends, even though her father was gearing up for her to get into acting with a role in “Annie,” the remake by Jay-Z. The tween persisted and Will relented, because he encourages his children to live their own dreams and make their own decisions.  Meanwhile, 14 year old Jaden is following in his father’s footsteps with a promising movie career, and is just coming off his co-starring role in the new film, “After Earth,” sharing the billboard with his father.

Does Will’s appall at being compared to the Kardashians mean that he thinks his family is better, more talented and more deserving? Or does he just want to remain the Smith’s, famous without comparison?

‘We are trying to put great things into the world, we’re trying to have fun, and we’re trying to become the greatest versions of ourselves in the process of doing things we love,” Will said, to the New York Times Magazine. How do we know the Kardashians are not trying to do the same?
